Frequently Asked Questions
What is ambulatory transportation?
Ambulatory transportation is for patients who can walk independently but need a reliable, professional ride to medical appointments. It does not require a wheelchair or stretcher — just a safe, comfortable vehicle and a trained driver.
Can I book a ride for the same day?
Yes, same-day scheduling is available subject to driver availability. For planned appointments, we recommend booking 24–48 hours in advance to guarantee your preferred time.
How is ambulatory transport paid for?
Mediride currently arranges trips as private pay or through a facility-invoiced account, and you are quoted before you travel. Minnesota Medicaid does cover non-emergency medical transportation for eligible members, so if you think that applies to you, call us and we will tell you exactly where things stand.
What if my appointment runs late?
Your driver will wait for a reasonable period and you can call or text us with updates. We also offer flexible return trip scheduling so you are never stranded.
